CELIAC/GLUTEN INTOLLERANCE: ARE WE CHASING THE WRONG VILLAIN?

Here is an article about gluten intolerance and celiac disease.  The article shows a study that was carried out on patients suffering from celiac disease.  





They obtained biopsies and then added vitamin C to the lab dishes containing gut tissue.  They found dramatic results.  Vitamin C may play a role in regulation of the anti inflammatory response.  It has been suggested that it can be useful for the induction of tolerance or auto antigens.  The implication of vitamin C in tolerance induction is interesting.  It goes on to suggest that people with celiac disease could be deficient in Vitamin C as many symptoms on the list for celiac disease are also the symptoms of scurvy.
