BASIL POULTICE FOR MOSQUITO BITES

BASIL POULTICE FOR MOSQUITO BITES

1/2 cup of Basil (leaves, fresh)
1 cup of lotion base (parabens-free, unscented)

Directions
Basil is an aromatic way to relieve mosquito bites, and to prevent future ones, and it makes for a great anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agent. When added to a mosquito bite, it will greatly relieve swelling, redness, and itching. It makes for an environmentally friendly solution for camping trips and countryside treks, while remaining gentle enough for children, adults, and elderly.

Mash basil leaves with a mortar and pestle until it achieves a paste-like consistency. If needed, a few drops of water can be added.(5 minutes)  Heat the lotion base in a double boiler, or in a small pot placed inside a larger pot full of simmering water. Watch it closely.(5 minutes)  Once the lotion base has been thinned out enough, remove it from the double boiler and mix it thoroughly with the basil paste.(3 minutes).  Apply the resulting poultice in the affected area directly on the skin, and leave it there for up to 20 minutes.

12 REASONS PEOPLE WHO EAT CLEAN ENJOY AMAZING LIVES

12 REASONS PEOPLE WHO EAT CLEAN ENJOY AMAZING LIVES

By lifehack.org - Roy Pumphrey
You are what you eat. It’s cliche, but true.
The food you put in your body is not only the fuel for activity but it’s ultimately the building blocks of your cells, so it’s literally true, you actually are what you eat. Unfortunately the typical American diet isn’t very nutritious. Most meals consist of overly refined, nutrient sparse, additive laden food. This is one of the primary reasons so many people are sick and tired all the time. Clean eating is the opposite. At it’s core it’s the concept of eating whole, unprocessed, “natural” food. The fewer steps food takes from its original form to your table the better. Once you’ve started to eat clean you’ll experience some amazing things.

1. They Have TONS of Energy

Once you start eating clean, and you’re actually fueling your body for the first time, you won’t believe how much energy you have. Clean eaters quickly realize how little energy they had before when their diet revolved around overly processed “junk” food.

HOW TO USE GREEN TEA TO HEAL THE BODY

HOW TO USE GREEN TEA TO HEAL THE BODY

By onegreenplanet.org - Heather McClees

Green tea has been quite the hero over the last decade in its popularity to help with weight loss due to the compound it contains known as EGCG. It’s also a great remedy for reducing your caffeine intake since green tea is much lower than black tea, coffee, or sugary energy drinks that are spiked with high doses of caffeine which can lead to adrenal fatigue and caffeine dependence. But this humble plant is much more beneficial than most of us realize. Aside from reduced caffeine intake and weight loss, there are many other ways you can benefit from using green tea.

So, let’s take a look at five simple ways you can use green tea in your home for healing and then let us know if you have a favorite way that we didn’t mention here!

1. The Cold and Flu

Did you know drinking just three cups of green tea a day when you’re sick can dramatically help with natural healing during a cold or even the flu? Though it’s not a cure-all, consuming several cups a day of green tea provides immune-boosting properties to the body along with antioxidants it needs to fight infections and free radicals. Green tea also contains many trace minerals and chlorophyll that support the body and aid in natural cleansing. Lastly, it can be mixed with some ginger root, lemon, cayenne, and a little stevia to make a hot drink that is soothing to the throat and fights infection even further. Combined with vitamin C, your cold or even symptoms of the flu will be much better in no time!

WHAT TO DO WHEN LIFE DOESN'T GO YOUR WAY (IT'S ACTUALLY A GOOD THING!)

What To Do When Life Doesn't Go Your Way (It's Actually a Good Thing!)

By Greatist.com - Susie Moore

Not where you thought you would be at this stage of your life? Maybe your dream job turned out to be duller than a doctor's waiting room, or maybe you just ended a relationship with the person you thought you’d marry. Whatever it is, know that you’re not alone.
As a life coach, people come to me for a multitude of reasons. Their main motivation, however, is always rooted in change. They either want to shake things up in an innovative way—start a new business, live more mindfully, explore their passions—or they’re reacting to something unexpected—a job loss, a breakup, an unexpected transition like a health issue.
The good news? Any of this can have marvellous consequences.
A lot of us have a fixed idea of how our lives “should be.” Perhaps the relationship we hoped for has eluded us, our career is unfulfilling, or we don’t feel connected to the world in a meaningful way. Maybe we feel like a shadow version of the person we know we really are. If any of this sounds familiar to you, now is a good time to contemplate on what it is that you really want, to reassess your goals, and to remind yourself that you are in the driver’s seat of your life.

To get started, you’ll have to do some self-reflection. Ask yourself: “What does success look like to me?”“What brings me joy?” “What type of life do I want to lead?” And be honest with yourself—it is very easy to give conditioned responses based on what you think you “should” want.
Getting real with yourself like this can be a thrilling, liberating, and energizing experience. If you desire change and you’re committed to take action, you will be unstoppable. Here are three steps that can help you make the switch from living your life by default to living your life by design.

Pulse again until smooth (raspberry seeds will remain whole and this is OK).  Pour Raspberry glaze into a small bowl.  Clean out food processor again and place cashews, honey, water, dates, coconut oil, and cocoa powder in it.  Pulse and process until mixture is smooth.  Drop 1 tablespoon raspberry glaze into each ramekin. Top with half of the chocolate filling and push it out to the sides. Top with another tablespoon of raspberry glaze.  Place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight until filling is firm.

AYURVEDIC TONGUE DIAGNOSIS MADE EASY

AYURVEDIC TONGUE DIAGNOSIS MADE EASY

By wakeup-world.com - Dr John Douillard, DC, CAP

In Ayurveda, one of the primary investigative tools of practitioners for determining the state of one’s health is tongue diagnosis or evaluation of the tongue. The tongue is the very beginning of the digestive tract, which lumbers on for another 30 feet or so. Since we cannot see much beyond the mouth without some invasive diagnostics, a quick look at the tongue can tell much about the health of your inner digestive skin.
Your inner skin is without a doubt the most important determining factor for your overall health. By inner skin, I mean the epithelium or the skin that lines the digestive tract. Let’s quickly take a look at what healthy inner digestive skin is responsible for:

1. Hosting of trillions of beneficial microbes (1)
2. Where 95% of the serotonin for mood health is derived (2)
3. Where 80% of the immune system is found (3,4)
4. The protective barrier to ward off environmental toxins (5)
5. The delivery of all vitamins, minerals and nutrients (6)
6. Regulates genetic and epigenetic changes to the human genome (7-9)
This is, of course, the extremely short list of why the health of the inner digestive skin is so important. The problem with diagnosing the inner skin is that we cannot see it – or can we? The tongue can give us quick and useful indications about the status of our digestion.
